What’s your inspiration? Music is mine – it fills the soul, lifts my spirits, and sparks inspiration in the darkest of days. Behind every company, every brand, is a person with a story.
This new year we must go back to what fires our souls and use this spark to power our marketing where it counts. Below are a few of my own inspirational marketing tips for this new year, inspired by my favorite tunes.
Bold as Love: Color Your Marketing
“My red is so confident he flashes trophies of war and ribbons of euphoria. Orange is young, full of daring, but very unsteady for the first go around.” ~ Jimi Hendrix, Bold as Love

Connection to color and feeling is captured perfectly in Jimi Hendrix’s “Bold as Love”. This is also represented in Pantone’s color of the year 2021, which is two colors: Ultimate Grey and Illuminating Yellow. This combination of colors represents happiness supported by fortitude. As you determine your marketing strategy this year, consider how you are aiming to attract and ultimately connect with your target market. Be bold using accentuating colors of your brand to help convey your campaign message. Inspiration is key.
Ain’t Gonna Stop: Marketing with Purpose
“Ain’t gonna stop until the twenty-fifth hour, ‘Cause now I’m living on blues power.” ~ Eric Clapton, Blues Power

Whatever you do in 2021, be sure you don’t slow down. Marketing in 2021 will require a combination of new and old marketing strategies. One main strategy learned from the past year is that to be relevant, you must meet your clients wherever they are, especially virtually. This means quickly interacting by text, live chat, and virtual zoom meetings and events which will continue into 2021. Pair virtual events with a tangible giveaway until you can meet again face to face.
Touch the Soul: In Brands We Trust
“No regrets can save us
And only our hearts have any answer” ~ Steve Winwood, At Times We Do Forget

Customers are looking to connect with companies and brands they can trust. One way to promote yourself is to provide reliability through positive corporate actions, such as offering frontline workers a special deal or product offering, or helping neighboring businesses impacted by the pandemic. An excellent example is Logitech providing free headsets to schools to support their remote classroom needs. Consumers need to feel totally comfortable in their purchases, and therefore want to stand behind a brand they trust and want to invest in. Another tip is to invest in your client’s businesses as well. If there is a product or service they offer, consider using their company over others to ensure your company dollars are going to support their business as they support yours.
This year, it is time to be bold, stay strong, and don’t ever forget to stay true to who you are. Sticking with your core values and business solutions is the best way to prosper through this year.
