As a social media manager, there are tools that I use every day that the average social media user may not be familiar with. If you are interested in becoming a social media manager or are looking to create social media for your business, here are a few of my must-haves and best tools for social media management:

Basic Tools

This may be obvious, but you’re going to need a reliable phone, tablet, or computer to save photos, create graphics, schedule posts, and more. I personally prefer working on a laptop or desktop computer, but you need to find what works best for you!

Social Media

The best way to familiarize yourself with social media is to have it for yourself. Having a personal profile allows you to become familiar with the platforms. Take time to play around with your profile by switching up your bio, posting polls, adding highlights, and more.

Basic Photography / Videography Knowledge

Social media is all about the visuals. If someone is scrolling too fast to read anything in the caption of your post, you at least want them to pause and look at a graphic! As long as you have a phone and basic photography and videography knowledge, you should be able to create some fantastic content! Skillshare has tons of classes for creatives, so take advantage of them!

Stock Photos

If you find yourself unable to master photography skills, stock photos are an option! Websites like Unsplash and Pexels have plenty of free images for you to choose from; however, I recommend using as much original content as possible to create a more original look.

Tools to Create Visuals

My favorite part of managing social media accounts is bringing a vision to life. Create eye-catching graphics using design platforms such as Canva and GoDaddy Studio for template-based designs, and Adobe Creative Cloud applications for more creative freedom.

Platforms for Inspiration

We all have experienced the dreaded creative block. Whenever you’re needing some inspiration, check out these sites filled with creative ideas and fresh designs:

Scheduling Platforms

Once your content is created, you will need to plan out and schedule your posts. These platforms are just a few of many that will get the job done:

Also, what many people may not know is that you can even schedule Facebook and Instagram posts through the Facebook “Publishing Tools” tab!

Planning Tools to Keep Organized

One of the most important part of managing social media accounts is organization! To stay organized, a planning tool is crucial. I prefer to use physical planners, my favorite one being from High Note Collection, but here are a few great online options for those who prefer digital tools:
