Technology is always at the forefront of consumer minds, including promotional product purchases. The question always arises, what’s new in tech? You might see a lot of the same items just with some new improvements; however, there are some intriguing developments that I’m excited to see enter the promo landscape and hopefully become more accessible.
Wearable Electronics
A new material has been developed in Singapore allowing energy to be converted into a power source. The fabric is made with a stretchy spandex-based polymer which allows energy conversion, and the material is then woven into t-shirts or other products. Any time the material is pressed, squeezed, or stretched the energy caused by friction is harnessed and can then be utilized to charge phones, watches, or other technology. The material is also waterproof, making it a perfect application in apparel.
This new material can be used in several ways – one being in the promotional product sphere for charging phones and other devices – but the technology may become a major player in other areas such as the medical field. The tee shirt charging fabric is still in development but consider how close we are to major innovations that will completely change the way we interact with technology!
