During the holiday season, I tend to shop more from businesses who show me they care not only about getting my business, but about the community, their employees, and giving back! Check out some of the tips below for ways that you can pique the interest of potential customers this holiday season and beat out the competition!

Host a Donation Drive or Fundraiser

Giving back for the holidays not only feels good – it also looks great from a customer perspective! Hosting a food drive, toy drive, or monetary fundraiser for a charity that is near and dear to your company’s heart is the perfect way to get in the holiday spirit.

If you don’t have time to create a fundraiser from scratch, try collecting items at work for a larger organization like Toys for Tots!

Create a Giveaway

Not everyone who comes across your company will be interested at first sight. A sure-fire way to get my attention is hosting a giveaway! Most of the time, a contest that gives away a popular product or small gift basket is enough to get someone to enter and follow the account to see if they win. They may even tag a friend who will in turn do the same!

In your contest post, make sure you include information like:

  • What the person will win for entering
  • How to be entered to win: tag friends, follow the page, share the post to their story, etc.
  • Deadline to enter
  • Date the winner will be announced

Show Your Company Culture

The holidays are for bringing people together! I LOVE seeing the faces and personalities behind the companies I get to work with, and there is no better way to start implementing that into your social accounts than by posting all about your company’s holiday events! Use each event as a content opportunity. Grab that camera or phone and shoot videos and photos at your Thanksgiving potluck, holiday decorating days, holiday party, white elephant gift exchange, and everything in between! This lets your followers see the faces behind the logo and connect on a more human level.

Plan for the New Year

I simply cannot function without two things: my planner and a game plan! Stay one step ahead of your competition by sitting down at the end of the year to plan social campaigns and company outings and to throw around content ideas for the first quarter of the next year! Having a game plan assures that you are not flying by the seat of your pants and that you will always have new content being made.
