If you work (or play) in any sort of digital art field, you’ll know that the quintessential design programs fall under the Adobe Creative Cloud umbrella. For those of you who don’t, Adobe’s programs are some of the best. In this blog, I’m going to take you on a deep dive into the top five design programs Adobe has to offer.
Adobe Illustrator
With Illustrator’s main purpose being for vector* art and illustration, it is one of the most used programs by graphic artists. Here, you can create anything from icons to logos to business cards and billboards. Not only is it the best for print design and branding, it’s also great for web design. Whether using it to design website wire frames, landing pages, or graphics/icons, the options are endless.
*Vector artwork is generated by points, curves, lines, and shapes all based on mathematical formulas. Vector art can be scaled to any size without the loss of resolution and can also be reshaped or recolored at any time.
Adobe Photoshop
Photoshop is the go-to program for photographers and web designers alike. Not only are the photo editing and retouching capabilities incredible, but you can also design anything from social media posts to full blown websites. Just like Illustrator, Photoshop can lend itself to print design as well, though it is a little trickier and you need to be more conscious of resolution at size when you go to print.
Adobe Premiere Pro
As the leading editing software, Premiere Pro is in its own league for video editing. You can easily edit videos ranging from social media post to the next blockbuster movie. You can customize your videos with effects, text, colors, graphics, and sound and then export completed footage to any destination.
Adobe Lightroom
Lightroom is the perfect on-the-go cloud-based photo editing software. From the average person to a professional photographer, anyone can use Lightroom to enhance and organize their images. Lightroom also offers presets (predetermined enhancements) that you can purchase or create on your own to get each photo to have a cohesive look & feel.
Adobe InDesign
InDesign is the king of all editorial design programs. Whether you have a book, magazine, catalog, eBook, or any other multi-page piece you need to setup and design, you’ll want to use InDesign to create a professional product. This program makes it easy to setup page spreads, text flow, titles, sub-titles, table of contents, page numbers… you name it.
