While it may seem strange to start your business’s summer preparations now, planning early can help to ensure a smooth transition to the summer months. Especially given all the new challenges with COVID-19 restrictions, the earlier you begin to prepare, the better off you’ll be! Here are a few things to keep in mind:

Refresh Your Curb Appeal

As much as we say,Don’t judge a book by its cover,” first impressions do matter.  Your business is
no exception.  As you prepare for increased foot traffic as the weather warms up, make sure your storefront or reception area is clean and presentable.  Replacing any faded, worn out, or old doormats, signs, and banners will give you an extra boost as people walk by and enter your business.  This is also a great time to rid yourself of any old, outdated branding or promotions that may still be hanging around.

Update Your Apparel

If you provide your employees with branded apparel or sell it, spring is the best time to start planning for summer.  With so many different styles, designs, and colors to choose from, starting early will give you the time you need to make sure you get exactly what you want. Starting early gives you and your marketing partners enough time to make sure that you see all the newest offerings and get samples in your hands to get a feel for the materials.

Prepare for Events

Even though events might be few and far between right now, it never hurts to prepare for them early! Too many excellent ideas are squandered by poor planning!  If you have a great idea for a gift or giveaway for an event, aim to have everything in hand at least a week before the event. This means you should start looking for options at least four weeks in advance! The earlier everything is prepped and ready, the smoother your event will unfold.

Preparing for your next season or holiday even a year early can help take one piece of the stress away from running your business. Being on top of your marketing initiatives allows your team to be ready to tackle new challenges in a quicker and more succinct manner and allows you to come up with your next great idea sooner!
