Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Those words have stayed with me since elementary school, when I learned why we fill the blue bin with hand-picked items and not mix them in with household rubbish. It was amazing to me and with today’s technology that there are endless ways to limit one’s foot print. By opting to pass on the plastic bags at the supermarket and instead bring your own reusable bags. Now our kids are taking a stand by promoting a plastic straw ban petition at school by fielding their friends, classmates, peers, and family to get on board. When we go to a restaurant and the only option is plastic, they don’t hesitate to say, “No straws please.”

The digital marketing industry that I specialize in is full of ways to reduce your carbon footprint. Digital marketing is eco-friendly marketing. It utilizes less resources to reach clients and potential clients through online ads, websites, social media, email marketing, etc.

In addition to digital marketing, there are many ways to reduce your carbon footprint and still invest in promotional and paper products. I did the research so you don’t have to, and found some pretty neat stuff to share with you!

Eco-Friendly Printing

When I first started looking into eco-friendly print options, I thought I was going to be tied down to recycled paper stocks, but eco-friendly printing goes so much further than that.

Paper & Beyond

Look for papers that include recycled content that are sourced from sustainable tree plantations and well-managed forests, with chlorine-free processing. Some of the papers we get are from wind powered manufacturing facilities to help maintain our natural resources. There are also papers using post-consumer recycled fibers, which may not always be the best option, depending upon what chemicals are used to breakdown the fibers. People are more likely to hold onto something that is nicer to the touch, carries a bit of weight, and isn’t flimsy. Choose a premium sturdy stock that has a greater longevity. Allow us to help you find the eco-friendly and sustainable stocks that work best for your ethical and marketing needs.

Inks, Coatings & Solvents

With vegetable oil-based inks, the print industry has been able to significantly reduce the emissions of harmful fumes and chemicals. Are you a fan of dairy-free Silk milk? Next time you need to order business cards, think about getting your business cards printed with inks made from your favorite dairy substitute!

Buy Local & Consider Eco-Friendly Manufacturers

As print brokers, we work with vendors all over the country and try to find the closest vendors to meet your needs. The shorter the travel distances, the less carbon emissions.

Eco-Friendly Promotional Products

Many businesses, cities, and towns have moved forward to enforce bans on single use plastics. Try to incorporate reusable or biodegradable promotional products into your client giveaways to reduce your business’s footprint. Moby-Dick will thank you!

Biodegradable & Reusable Straws

For food service industries like cafés, bars, and restaurants, plastic straws have been a go-to for many years. Biodegradable Paper Straw options have become more popular in recent years and some can be printed with your logo, slogan, or insignia.

We also have some great Reusable Straws that can be used for any industry. They can feature your logo center stage with imprinting options on the travel cases or straws themselves. Your clients and potential clients won’t want to leave home without it!

Reusable & Biodegradable Bags

Reusable bag usage has been on a steady rise. To save our sea creatures, many cities and towns have moved forwards with bans on single use plastic bags. I love this Polyester Folding Grocery Tote. It comes in great colors, can be printed, and has a cool clip so you can attach it to your purse or bag. It is an easy way to make checkout greener.

You can also say goodbye to sandwich plastic baggies with our Snak-A-LopeTM Bag reusable sandwich bag available in various colors with or without screen printing. Did I mention that it is Machine Washable? Well yes, it is!

Biodegradable Bags

When you consider the average lifespan of a promotional product, it really depends upon its use. For instance, some bags will only be used once, while others are enjoyed year after year. For those that get a single or few uses, we offer a line of Biodegradable Bags.  Many are reusable and they can also be printed on, but the thing that makes them unique is the way they are designed with technology that accelerates the breakdown and degradation process of the material.

Let’s Make Our Planet Greener Together

When you are considering your marketing plan, think of ways to incorporate green practices through digital, reusable, biodegradable, and recycled materials. Let us know your marketing goals and we will think of ways to implement eco-friendly practices to help reduce your carbon footprint.

Next time you are at Wegmans in King of Prussia and the woman ahead of you in line disappears to run out to her car and returns with an armful of reusable bags, say “Hi” because it is probably me.
