I often get asked why I chose graphic design for my career, and the answer comes easily: creating is something that comes to me naturally. We constantly interact with design. Whether we recognize it or not, we’re surrounded by thousands of ads, promotions, and messages each day, and I get to play a part in making those messages more eye-catching and communicative.

Here are four things I love most about being a designer:

1. I have the privilege of creating beauty.

As someone in the creative field, there is nothing more enjoyable than creating something that makes the world a more beautiful place to look at. I love including appealing imagery and varied fonts in my designs to create something that others can enjoy!

2. I love bringing organization and order to the disorderly.

A little bit of organization goes a long way. Clear communication and organization are key to making a brand successful! Throwing things on a page is easy but organized creativity takes more thought. Structured content makes it easier for consumers to get a clear understanding of your message and where they can go to find more content from your brand. For me, bringing organization to design is one of the most important things a designer can do to get the right message across.

3. I love bringing something NEW to the table.

We are often inspired by the things around us and the people that came before us; however, that doesn’t stop us from putting our own stamp on the world. We can pull ideas from others but ultimately, as designers, we are always creating something new. As the world changes, we also change. I love that I get to bring fresh design ideas to clients and create something that didn’t exist before.

4. I get to problem-solve.

I have always enjoyed solving problems, from puzzles to issues that arise in everyday life, and design is no different. Finding the best solutions to any challenges in a design can be so rewarding. If I can help a client come up with an optimal solution to a problem, I feel like my work is making a difference.
